There are basically two methods for creating an Alias Address: On the fly or Via the website. The following compares and explains the two approaches.

The Alias Address is given out without having told the system in advance	The Alias is entered into the system via Alias Create before it is given out
The system is unaware of the alias address until after it receives the first email	The system is made aware of the address before it is handed out
Alias Address can predefine the maximum emails or expiry date by the way the email is formatted (see below)	Alias Address embeds no maximum Email or expiry date, but can be specified on the Alias record.
To set a Maximum number of emails for an Alias Address, it can be formatted as sarahk.ID.999@lifebyfood.com, where 999 is the maximum you set. Note that once the Alias Address is created with an embedded "999"it becomes part of the address and must always be specified.	To set a Maximum number of emails for an Alias Address, set the Maximum Emails field in the create function, but do not insert it in the Alias address itself
To set an expiry date, create the email alias with a date (mmddyy). For example sarahk.ID.123108@lifebyfood.com.	To set an expiry date for an Alias Address, set the Expiry date field in the create function, but do not insert it in the Alias address itself
A maximum emails and expiry date can be inserted into the email. As example: sarahk.ID.999.123108@lifebyfood.com	Both the expiry date and the maximum email field can be set on the Alias address record, but not on the Alias itself.
Both the Maximum Emails and the Expiry Date can be modified on the system by changing the appropriate field, although the email address must still contain the old values. The system will use the value on the Alias record, overriding the value in the Alias ID.	Both the Maximum Emails and the Expiry Date can be modified on the system by changing the appropriate field.
